Giuseppe Marotta is confident of a bright future after unveiling new arrivals Martin Caceres and Simone Padoin at a press conference in Vinovo. The sporting director has been working closely with Antonio Conte to improve the squad in the January transfer window and is satisfied with the deals the club has managed to complete.

Marotta began by discussing the recruitment strategy behind the search for reinforcements: “We said that we’d look carefully at the options that could increase the quality of the group of players, who have already shown themselves to be very competitive. The most resounding demonstration of this is the table. The team are unbeaten and credit for this must especially go to the manager and the group of players.”

The moment then arrived for Marotta to present the two recent acquisitions: “They are well-known players for various different reasons. Martin is a familiar face to many of you here, while Padoin is an Italian footballer who has mainly figured with Atalanta and made more than 100 Serie A appearances. Both players are already known and give us guarantees. We’ve signed them with Conte’s agreement and we’re certain that they’ll give us their important contribution.”

The club director ended with an explanation of the specific terms agreed for both transfers: “Martin joins us on loan but with an option to make the move permanent, and it’s obviously our intention to take that up. Padoin is an outright purchase.”
